La Chaîne de l’Espoir
Partnership’s presentation
ALIMA and the Chaine de l’Espoir (the Chain of Hope) have worked together on projects in Gaza, Sri Lanka, in Iraq and the proposed surgery project in Haiti since ALIMA was founded in 2009. The Chain of Hope was particularly supportive during the founding of ALIMA; supporting the launch of these various projects and more directly by lending it premises free of charge for its first year.
During the earthquake in Haiti, the Chain of Hope put its expertise into action in specialised surgery, working within a joint project to respond to the emergency. This partnership in the surgical project in Haiti continues to this day as both partners agree on the necessity to continue to provide care for as long as the earthquake victims need it.
In Iraq, the Chain of Hope had already run the project for two years. The partnership with ALIMA has strengthened the project by increasing visits to Baghdad and integrating an Australian surgical team into the project that ALIMA brought in.
